Tumacácori National Historic Park

Tumacácori Franciscan Mission is located just off of US Interstate 19, about an hour's drive south of Tucson, Arizona. It is about 20 miles north of the US-Mexico border at Nogales, Arizona. The mission was built in the late 1700's and then abandoned in the 1800's due to Apache raids. The ruins originally comprised a National Monument designated by President Theodore Roosevelt. Now the 2 square mile area is managed by the United States National Park Service in Santa Cruz county.
